Welcome back to our MKE series. Spring is right around the corner and we’re itching to get outside and enjoy the beauty that is summer in Milwaukee. We’ve rounded up some of our go-to places in Milwaukee, whatever the season, in this month’s MKE Three.

Anodyne in Walker’s Point

Milwaukee has become a coffee paradise within the last few years. There are a multitude of great coffee shops around the city that offer a solid cup of joe. One of our favorite places in the city is Anodyne in Walker’s Point. I am currently going to school to at UWM for my MBA and am always looking for a good place to study or meet up with a group. Anodyne is my go-to spot. There is ample space, beautiful architecture with character, a great beer selection and last but obviously not least, fantastic coffee.

Anodyne has multiple locations around Milwaukee and each one offers unique qualities but this one has always been special to me. On top of the great space for studying and meeting up with groups, they also host live music and are located in the amazing Walker’s Point neighborhood. If you stop by Anodyne you must try the “My Buddy” coffee, which is possibly my favorite coffee drink in the city. Always hits the spot and is a great pick-me-up before a nice stroll in Walker’s Point.

Milwaukee Riverwalk

With warmer weather in sight, I have been dreaming of warm summer nights along the Riverwalk and am super excited to start utilizing this great part of the city more. The Riverwalk extends for more than 20 blocks from the Third Ward up to the Lower East Side along the Milwaukee River. With prime real estate, it’s no wonder restaurants and bars are continuing to pop up along the expanding Riverwalk.

The Riverwalk features outstanding city views, pontoon rentals and the boat pedal tavern in the summer, and restaurants and bars with outside seating that pair amazingly well with a beer and the sunset. If you’re looking for somewhere to have a peaceful stroll in the middle of the city or a running path away from cars, check out the Riverwalk.

Milwaukee Brewing Company

Milwaukee Brewing Company is a Milwaukee staple. Anytime an out-of-towner asks me where to go for a brewery tour it always comes down to Lakefront Brewery and Milwaukee Brewing Company. Both are amazing and have helped to restore and grow a strong brewing culture in Milwaukee. Milwaukee Brewing Company recently partnered with Central Standard Distillery and the two are located next to each other in Walker’s Point. The tour itself is the most cost-effective way to enjoy a (basically) endless amount of tasty adult beverages.

The tour offers a decent amount of brewing knowledge, self-deprecation and an ability to highlight how amazing it is without boasting. It’s short and sweet plus the size of the brewery is relatively small, which I absolutely love because it gives you a view of the whole process all at once. The beers are also really good. Some of my personal favorites are Louie’s Demise and O-Gii (tea-infused). Milwaukee Brewing Company has not only the brewery in Walker’s Point but also the Milwaukee Ale House in the Third Ward, and will be adding a new brewery on 9th Street soon, rumored to have a rooftop patio. If the beer is good, I’ll be there and you should too!

What are your favorite places in Milwaukee? We want to know!

Cheers!
